Customs & Taxes

Our pricing is transparent. What you see at checkout is what you pay: the product price, with free standard shipping and shipping insurance included.

United States and Canada — We Cover Duties

For orders shipped to the United States and Canada, FavorShopping pays the import duties, taxes, and customs fees. Duty is prepaid, so the carrier should not bill you on delivery. If you are billed anyway, send us the receipt and we will resolve it.

Other Countries — Duties Are Paid by the Recipient

For orders shipped anywhere other than the United States or Canada, import duties, taxes, and customs fees are set by the destination country and are the responsibility of the recipient. They are normally collected by the delivering carrier before or at the time of delivery, and they are not included in your checkout total.

Duty rates vary widely by country and by product category, and thresholds change from time to time, so we are not able to calculate or pre-pay these charges for you. If you would like an estimate before ordering, your national customs authority or a local customs broker is the reliable source.

We declare shipments at the value actually paid, with accurate product descriptions and commodity codes. This is a legal requirement in the countries we ship to, and it is also what keeps your shipping insurance valid — a package declared below its real value can generally only be compensated at that lower declared value if it is lost or damaged. We are not able to alter declared values, invoices, or product descriptions on request.

Sending an Order as a Gift

If you are sending an order to someone else, please let them know that a customs charge may be payable on delivery outside the United States and Canada. Carriers normally will not release a shipment until the charge due has been paid.

Restricted Items and Customs Refusals

Please check your country's import rules before ordering. You are responsible for confirming that the item may be imported into your country.

If your customs authority refuses or returns a shipment, we will refund the product cost once the package is returned to us, less the return-transit cost. Where a shipment is abandoned or destroyed by customs rather than returned, we will review the case individually and in good faith.

Refused or Unclaimed Deliveries

If a shipment is refused at delivery or left unclaimed because a customs charge was not paid, the package is returned to us at our cost, and we will refund the product cost less that return-transit cost. To avoid this, please watch for carrier notifications after your order ships.

Common Questions

Will I have to pay customs duties on my order?

Not if you are in the United States or Canada — FavorShopping pays the import duties and customs fees for those two countries, and your checkout total is your final cost. Everywhere else, duties are set by your country's customs authority and are payable by you on delivery.

Are taxes or VAT added at checkout?

No. Your checkout total is the product price, with free standard shipping and insurance included. For destinations outside the United States and Canada, any import duty or VAT is charged separately by your country's customs authority, not by us.

How much will the duty be?

We cannot calculate it. Rates depend on your country, the product category, and and the value threshold in force at the time, and these are outside our control. Your national customs authority or a customs broker can give you an accurate figure before you order.

Can you declare a lower value to reduce my duty?

No. We declare shipments at the value actually paid, with an accurate description. Declaring a lower value is illegal in the destination country, and it would also void your shipping insurance, since a lost or damaged parcel can only be compensated up to its declared value.

What happens if customs refuses my package?

Once the package is returned to us, we refund the product cost less the return-transit cost. If customs destroys or retains the shipment instead of returning it, contact us and we will review the case individually.
